You won't get the job without acing your interview.

It’s your ONE chance to stand out…

Yet most people aren’t prepared.

Interviews are where employers learn about your past experiences, your story, and how you'll provide value in the job.

So...

How do you nail the interview?

Let's dive in 👇

👊 Actionable Steps

1. “Tell me about yourself?”

Highlight your past, present, and future.

Present: Outline your current role and relevant accomplishments.

Past: Speak to your previous experiences relevant to your target role.

Future: End with what you’re looking to do next.

Don't ramble. Be concise.

2. “Why this company?”

Don’t be generic.

Do your research (company services, values, recent news)

Use examples. Do you align with their values?

Do you find a specific service interesting?

Share how your skills are a great fit for the company and role.

3. “What are your strengths?”

Customize your response to the role (read the job description).

Provide 1-2 strengths (show > tell).

Give an example of how you displayed your strengths (tell stories).

Then, show how you’ll use your strengths in the role you want.

4. “What are your weaknesses?”

Don’t make a weakness a strength.

“I miss details” —> “But I see the big picture”

Embrace your weaknesses...

Then, show how you’re addressing it.

(e.g., "I made a list of details I often miss to double-check my work")

5. “Tell me about a time you failed?”

What did you fail at?

What does failure mean to you?

Did you grow from your experience?

Share specific stories... Don’t focus only on the failure.

Focus on what you learned.

6. “Tell me about a time you had a conflict with a team member?”

Employers care about your conflict resolution skills.

Focus on the solution. Not on the problem.

Use a specific example...

"I listened and understood the conflict, then worked for a compromise"

7. “What’s a time you persuaded someone at work to your side?"

You need strong communication skills to persuade others.

Focus on how you persuaded them...

Did you listen first?

Did you promote the positives of the situation?

Show you understand others.

8. “What's a time you needed information from someone unresponsive?”

Show you’re proactive.

Did you immediately ask for help?

Or did you find a way to get the information.

End with a lesson (e.g., speaking with people often moved things along faster than emails)

9. “How did you adapt when your team was undergoing change?”

You’ll need to adapt in any job.

New boss? New structure? New teammate?

Describe the steps you took to adjust.

The change —> the problem —> Your Solution

E.g., New manager caused missed deadlines then you suggested daily check-ins.

10. “Tell me about your proudest professional accomplishment?”

This trips people up.

Share a story that shows a relevant skill you haven’t brought up yet.

“I’ve done x. I’m proud because I had x impact…”

This is your freebie to show your relevant skills for the job.

Master Storytelling to Ace Your Interviews:

Practice aloud (record yourself)

Don’t memorize your answers (be genuine)

Prepare 3-5 stories (which relate to your target role)

Use SCARL to share stories (Situation, Complication, Action, Results, Learnings)
